Message from the Headmaster

At Melbourne Grammar School we strongly believe that it is the quality of the human relationships within a school that defines it. Accordingly, a major emphasis is placed on the teaching and learning environment which exists both within and outside the classroom environment.

Whilst proud of the very strong academic record that Melbourne Grammar School has always maintained, our aim is always to provide the best all-round education in which a student's physical, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual development is enhanced.

Through our rigorous academic programme, the diverse co-curricular activities and the strong pastoral care system, Melbourne Grammar School students will learn to be independent, creative and flexible learners, operating within an ethical community, with a strong sense of responsibility to their community and society as a whole.

Melbourne Grammar School operates within a very strong values system in which we value discovery, supported by learning leading to understanding, excellence, creative thinking, leadership, integrity, moral courage, a positive sense of self, a sense of community, compassion, diversity and an appreciation of the world.

- Roy Kelly (Headmaster).

Wadhurst (Years 7 and 8) and the Senior School (Years 9 to 12) are in South Yarra and cater for day students and more than 110 boarders.

Whilst proud of the very strong academic record that the school has always maintained, our aim is to provide the best all-round education in which a student’s physical, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual development is enhanced. Melbourne Grammar School offers an educational experience in which students are guided to be productive, responsible and caring citizens of the future.
