City in western England, Middle English Bridgestow, from Old English Brycgstow, literally "assembly place by a bridge" (see bridge (n.) + stow). A local peculiarity of pronunciation adds -l to words ending in vowels.
The Australian city of Brisbane is named after Admiral Sir Charles Brisbane (1769 -1829), but this was many centuries after the creation of the surname. Of pre medieval Anglo-Scottish origins, it has a particulary interesting history. The derivation is from the ancient words "brise" meaning a break, and "ban" - a bone, "break bone". The surname, first recorded in the 13th century may be occupational and to have referred to a doctor, one who repaired broken bones, or it maybe a nickname for one who "broke bones".

Brisbane is a type of alkane and Bristol is a type of alcohol.
布里斯班是一种烷烃,而布里斯托是一种醇。【咦

光抖机灵可能不是太好...我还是补充点正经的细节吧~
这类问题可以通过词源学(etymology)的方法判断,只要是不太生僻的词语一般都能上网搜到~我google了一下,结果如下:
Bristol:
(文段来源:Online Etymology Dictionary)
所以这个词的演变是Brycgstow -> Bridgestow -> Bristol,意思是“用桥建起一个地方”。
Brisbane:
(文段来源:Brisbane Last Name Origin)
所以这个词的演变是Brise(Break) + ban(bone) -> Brisbane(人名) -> Brisbane(以人名命名城市),这个词语最早的意思是“破碎的骨头”。
所以结果可能会让题主失望,这两个城市并没有什么联系。
