About Balwyn High School
Balwyn High School is located 12 kilometres east of Melbourne and has approximately 1930 students (including 65 international students) and 162 equivalent full-time staff, comprising of four principal class staff, 128 teachers and 30 education support personnel.
A wide range of co-curricular activities are offered, including music, drama, academic enrichment, debating, cultural pursuits, camps, a house system, sport, community service and student leadership. At present, one in five students hold a leadership position in the school.
We have an Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) for children of high intellectual potential and we are fully accredited to enrol international students. Our community is proud of its cultural diversity, with over 54 nationalities represented across the school.
The school has developed structures to support student learning that recognise the developmental needs of young adolescents as they negotiate the stages of schooling. The school has two sub-schools; Middle School (Yrs 7–9) and Senior School (Yrs 10–12) catering for student wellbeing and learning needs.
