Genazzano FCJ College is a Catholic day and boarding school for girls from ELC to Year 12. Around 1130 girls attend the college, with a new coeducational Early Learning Centre opened in 2013.
From its beginnings in 1889, the college’s founding sisters, from the religious congregation Faithful Companions of Jesus, have championed the intellectual and spiritual development of young women, encouraging them to make meaningful contributions to society as leaders in both the community and at home.
The college is situated in beautiful grounds in Kew and has excellent facilities, providing for a wide variety of educational and sporting choices. We teach a broad range of subjects in all disciplines.
We listen to the dreams and aspirations of our students and encourage a joy of learning and discovery that addresses cognitive skills, and emotional and physical development. We appreciate the uniqueness in everyone and strive to tailor an educational path for each individual student. We want education to be exciting... we want our students to be happy and to succeed.
That is why Genazzano women have been high achievers for over a century.
Four learning areas focus on the developmental needs of students: Early Years (ELC to Year 4), Middle Years (Years 5 to 8), Later Years (Years 9 and 10) and VCE (Years 11 and 12). Extensive choice is available through the broad curriculum on offer. The ‘Making Connections’ Program is tailored for the specific needs of Year 9 students.
An extensive sporting program is on offer including tennis, softball, volleyball, netball, hockey, water polo, basketball, crosscountry, athletics, swimming and skiing. An exceptional rowing program is also available which achieves outstanding results each year. Aerobics, fun running, aqua aerobics and badminton are among leisure options available. Leadership and extension programs are available and encouraged. Students can participate in debating, languages, science, drama, sporting programs, and various choral and musical ensembles, amongst many other programs. The college provides an exceptional co-curricular program which allows students to excel in their areas of interest and explore new opportunities which compliment their academic and sporting programs.
Pastoral care, community service and social justice programs are emphasised. A Performance Psychology Centre with college counsellors, careers adviser and learning enhancement programs provide for students seeking both support and a challenge
Housed in both historic and modern buildings, the college facilities include a VCE centre, a modern library and technology facility, a careers centre, a cafeteria and extensive sporting and aquatic facilities. The opening of the new Madeleine Centre for Music and the Performing Arts in 2011 was the realisation of a long-held dream for the college. The Madeleine Centre is a state-of-the-art facility providing exceptional performance and learning spaces for students and the community. Boarders are accommodated in the college’s comfortable and attractive offcampus facility, Hopetoun Hall
Hopetoun Hall provides an off-campus facility encouraging the growth of faith, independence and social responsibility for students from various social and geographic backgrounds. Located in Camberwell, just 3km from the college, Hopetoun Hall is a modern 40-bed facility providing a secure, comfortable, caring and supportive Catholic environment for students from Years 9 to 12.
